Above the meadows the river tightens into pocket water and long glides through the canyons of the Hreppar valley. Faster, harder ground, and noticeably bigger fish on average.
It sells as its own section only from 2 August, and only from Hundastapi up. Before that date this water is not for sale separately at all — it belongs to the Lower Beat’s Luxury Package and is fished from the Lower Lodge with the rest of the river. Salmon push up in good water from late July, and there are always trout in the gorge.
You work from a well-equipped self-catered lodge further up the valley: four twin bedrooms, a kitchen, a hot shower. A little less service, a lot more solitude. A guide is included here too.
The Gorge sells alongside this section, by the day, on its own 1 rod. The two are counted and fished separately, so what is open here does not depend on what sells there — but 3 rods is a small section, and periods go early.
