STÓRA LAXÁ

Lodges & services

Your rod comes with a guide. The rest is your choice.

A guide is included on the Lower and Upper sections and cannot be declined. A room, a cooked dinner, a car from the airport, waders if you would rather not travel with them — those are yours to pick.

Two lodges

Each section has its own base, and each has its own idea of comfort. Whichever section you book, the lodge shown is the one you actually stay in.

Upper Beat · Efra svæði

Upper lodge

Self-catered

A well-equipped self-catered lodge further up the valley — four twin bedrooms, a proper kitchen, hot showers and a hot tub. You trade a little service for a lot more solitude, and take the lodge as a whole for the party.

  • Kitchen, hot showers and a hot tub
  • Taken as a whole lodge

What comes with the rod

Guiding is part of the price on the Lower and Upper sections and cannot be declined. The rates below are what a guide costs — shown so you can see what your period covers, not because they are optional there.

A guide and an angler on the bank of Stóra-Laxá

River guiding — guide & 4×4

Your guide takes you to the best pools on your beat, ties on what is working, helps you on the water and drives the beat. Charged per guide rather than per rod, and you choose how many: we advise one guide to every two rods, so a full 8 rods is four guides, and at least one comes with every booking. In the Gorge a guide is optional at ISK 120,000 a day for the group.
