The season · 2027
Late June to the end of September.
The season opens on 18 June on the upper water alone; the whole river, on eight rods, runs from 21 June. From 2 August it divides at Hundastapi and the Upper Beat sells separately, and the Gorge is open by the day from 20 July. Rates move with the run.
The three sections
A rod is priced per rod per day and the rate moves through the season — dearest at the opening and the back end, cheapest through August. The figures below are the cheapest point in each section’s season, with the included guiding added, because that is the least anyone can actually book.

20 July – 30 September
ISK 59,000per rod, per day
Periods on the Lower and Upper sections are three nights, noon to noon, fishing three rod-days: an arrival afternoon, two full days and a final morning. The opening period of 18 June is the one exception to those hours — fishing starts at 09:00. The Gorge is not sold in periods — you choose the dates and the number of rods, minimum two.
Rates through the season
Per rod, per period — the 2027 price list quotes a daily rate, and a period fishes three rod-days, so each figure below is that daily rate over the whole three-night period. Guiding is on top and included. Every departure of the season is listed, roughly one every three days; the booking calendar has live availability for each.

The first row sits outside the whole-river season: 18 June fishes the upper water on 4 rods, three nights at the season’s top rate with the first cast at 09:00, sold inside the Lower package and priced with it. The season itself — the whole river, on 8 rods from the Lower Lodge — runs from 21 June.
Blank rows are not gaps: until 2 August the Upper Beat is not sold separately, because its water is inside the Lower Beat’s whole-river package. From 2 August the river divides at Hundastapi and both columns price independently.
Prices are in Icelandic krónur, VAT included. A rod is VAT-exempt as an angling licence; lodging, board, guiding, transfers and equipment hire carry 11%. Checkout may show indicative conversions to USD, GBP and EUR; the ISK figure is what you are charged.
Optional extras
Lodging, board, transfers and tackle hire — the choices you make at checkout, with what they cost. Guiding is not here for the Lower and Upper sections because it already comes with the rod.

The rhythm of a day
08:00 – 13:00
Morning session
On the water early, with a break back at the lodge afterwards.
13:00 – 16:00
The river rests
Lunch, sleep, tie something on for the evening. The pools get a few hours to settle.
16:00 – 22:00
Evening session
The best of an Icelandic summer day, and often the best of the fishing.
Rules of the river
- Fly only — no bait, no spinner.
- Catch & release on all fish, not only salmon.
- Only floating lines — no sink tips.
- Fishing takes place in the allocated hours.
- Gear brought into Iceland must be disinfected; we can do it on arrival.
- Two sessions a day; the middle of the day is a rest for the pools.
- A maximum of 12 rods a day across the three sections.
- The rod is your angling licence — no separate permit.
